Program Introduction
The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Boston University provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address complex public health challenges and improve health outcomes in communities and across the globe. The program teaches core principles of public health across various specialties (epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, global health, health policy and management, social and behavioral sciences, etc.) and offers opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations through practical experiences. Certain concentrations within this program, such as biostatistics, epidemiology, and health informatics, have received STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) designation, allowing international students in these concentrations to benefit from up to three years of Optional Practical Training (OPT) after graduation. The Boston University School of Public Health offers flexible program formats (full-time, part-time, online, hybrid) to accommodate students from diverse backgrounds and circumstances. The program centers on values of social justice and health equity, with an emphasis on improving health outcomes for vulnerable and marginalized populations.
