Program Introduction
MIT's Undergraduate AeroAstro program is a globally recognized curriculum focused on the design and engineering of flight and space systems. The program provides students with a solid engineering foundation necessary for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and operation of aircraft, spacecraft, satellites, and other aerospace systems. The curriculum balances theoretical knowledge with practical applications, enabling students to develop expertise in core aerospace areas including aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, control, navigation, and orbital mechanics. This program is designated as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program, allowing international students to benefit from up to 36 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States. A distinguishing feature of the MIT AeroAstro program is its combination of rigorous technical education with innovative design experiences, research opportunities, and collaborative projects with industry. Students engage in hands-on work in advanced laboratories and facilities, participating in projects that address cutting-edge problems in the aerospace field.
