Program Introduction

The Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering program at Penn State University provides students with the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary for the design, development, testing, and operation of aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, and other aerospace systems. The program focuses on core aerospace principles such as aerodynamics, propulsion systems, structural mechanics, flight dynamics, and control systems, with students learning to balance theoretical concepts with practical engineering applications. This program is designated as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program, allowing international students to benefit from up to 36 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States. Students gain hands-on experience through team design projects, laboratory experiments, and internship opportunities that address real-world problems in the aerospace industry, preparing graduates for careers in aerospace industries, defense sectors, government agencies, and research institutions.
